WHY Conservatives are hard to take SERIOUSLY by Wayne Johnston

When it comes to the enshrined rights of Ontarian’s and Canadians the Ontario Conservative Party’s concern is registering zero. What a collection of truly vile, self-serving, self-absorbed blackguards. This collection of filth were actually trying to remove the enshrined charter right of workers, in this case Education workers, to withhold their labour for better conditions.

Yes, I get it, as it has to do with teaching and the kids will suffer. Or so our expensive, private schooled Minister of Education insists. If you actually believe that the Conservatives truly care about children’s education, then you are incredibly naive.

If they actually cared about kids, I mean really cared, perhaps they would actually invest in education rather than pushing this distance learning malarkey. Then again, they could invest in healthcare, or education and healthcare/education for special needs children which they don’t. Rather, they cut programs focused on kids, including many mental health programs. Call me old fashioned but how about dental care for children under 12 covered by OHIP… That my friends would demonstrate real care for kids!

Look at the much-vaunted Tory tax cuts that never fail to be introduced with a great deal of pomp and circumstance.  Yet the results are completely lacking in any real substance. The removal of the annual motor vehicle license tag is a prime example of shameless vote buying. The only reason Tory filth speak of tax cuts, is to buy your vote.

Frankly only fools allow themselves to be bought and paid for so cheaply. These cuts amount to nothing more than a trifle but one that has a very expensive price tag for the public good.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I can see our road infrastructure beginning to show wear, more than normal. It’s only a matter of time before our transportation infrastructure is in tatters. But hey you don’t have to pay for your license tag. Listen up! I can afford the yearly license fee, as can the vast majority of Ontarian’s. What we can’t afford is crumbling infrastructure due to healthcare and education cuts.

What I most certainly cannot afford, nor will tolerate, is a government that totally ignores our charter rights as it suits them. Yes they can “legally” use the Notwithstanding clause, but seriously, to use it in a labour dispute is a very slippery slope. Where was this willingness to be tough with the Notwithstanding clause during the disaster that their base created during the Coronavirus. The deliberate anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers are the base. Doug Ford can’t afford to upset them as the Tories need those votes, though the damage done to society by this collection of me, me, me-ers inflicted serious harm.

Is it me, or is it just professions that are predominantly women that Doug Ford and his collection of disgusting minions like to beat up on. Let’s see Educators… a disproportionate number of women in the profession, Nursing, hmmm… another profession the Tories consistently attack. How odd a disproportionate number of women also in Nursing.

If you’re a Conservative voter in Ontario you really need to look in the mirror and ask yourself this, just what the hell are you doing? Voting Con is against your own interests, your friends’ interests, your communities’ and your province’s interests, and in the end is extremely counter-productive for the Nation…

Ask yourself why support a Cockwobble whose waist size is greater than his IQ; Support a party aiming to strip labour of a FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT; Support a party that  cares more for their anti-vax, anti- mask gang causing the general poor quality of healthcare and hurting the economy it claims it cares about. This party that has used Federal Covid funds, not to assist Ontarian’s but, to feather its own nest with programs other that the purposes intended.

They claim their cuts are to put more money into the pockets of Ontarian's. But can you name me a single “tax cut” that actually impacted the lifestyle of Ontarian’s let alone changed their lifestyle? If the $100.00 saving for your annual license fee changed your lifestyle, you have a much bigger problem. These cuts impact services that Ontarian’s need, healthcare, education etc. Everything from eye exams, help for parents with Autistic children, special needs in Education, class sizes etc. The list is endless and the real human impact, serious! How pathetic that a buck a beer was an election strategy, what kind of fool buys into such foolishness?

HOW THE COVID PANDEMIC HAS CHANGED PANHANDLING by Jim Ward

Panhandling, i.e., begging for small change on the street, has been under considerable threat since the coming of Covid. Of course, the practice has been under threat before whenever the good burgers of some city find that the poor have resorted to “inconveniencing” the public and they feel the “moral” need to criminalize it. But Covid is causing different constraints. In these times very few people carry cash with them. In fact, many retailers will not accept cash, since it may well be ‘dirty money’. The term panhandling had its origins, so I’m told, during an economic depression in the United States in the late 19th century. That depression hit the panhandle area of northern Texas particularly hard and it caused many workers to head to New York City, where the ‘Buddy can you spare a dime?’ request was given birth. The practitioners of this art became known as the panhandlers. Back in the early 1970s I conducted studies of panhandling approaches in six North American cities, one of th...

THE PROFOUND EMPTINESS OF PIERE POILIEVRE by Bill lee

“You take the lies out of him, and he’ll shrink to the size of your hat; you take the malice out of him, and he’ll disappear.” - Mark Twain. There has never been any very substantial evidence that Pierre Poilievre is an even moderately well-rounded human being, or someone with even a modicum of depth. What he clearly is, is a career politician with no experience of, and no apparent interest in, life outside of the narrow, dark recesses of the CPC caucus room; i.e., he’s a pure political operator. Though that is something, let’s be honest, it is not a whole lot, at least if one wants to become an authentic political leader. At this point however he is becoming (has become?) a completely plastic image created by the gang of back-room boys whose task it is to construct something that looks like a leader. Whether what they have rendered in PP is, or even looks like, a leader however is questionable. Good leaders (never mind great ones) have an ability to, and interest in, showing an unders...

Gun Violence and Bigotry, Due South & in Canada

Bill Lee August 24, 2019 Trump in his Florida speech asked how “these people” could be “stopped”. Someone among the crowd shouted, “Shoot them!” At first laughing, Trump responded, "That's only in the [Florida] panhandle, can you get away with that statement. [1] Given the obscene number of deaths from mass shootings in the USA recently it is probably not surprising that some of the old "rationales" have been taken off the shelf and dusted off. One GOP “legislator” has opined that there is a link to the spread and consumption of violent video games. Leaving aside that this is an exceedingly tired trope that has never been proven, there are a couple of others that clearly have much greater power as explanations. It is not, for example a fanciful notion that high capacity automatic weapons are a more likely link. [2] But there is another issue that really deserves much more full attention. When, oh when will the denizens political class, the media, a...
